Inspect Your Meter Box Check your meter box to ensure it is secure and undamaged. If you find any issues, contact us, and we’ll repair it.
Close Crawl Space Vents If you have a crawl space, make sure the vents are closed to prevent cold air from entering.
Secure Underpinning for Mobile Homes For mobile homes, ensure the underpinning is properly secured and closed to maintain warmth.
Disconnect Your Water Hose Be sure to disconnect your water hose to prevent freezing and damage.
If it is Below Freezing for Multiple Days:
Leave Cabinet Doors Open Open the cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate and protect pipes from freezing.
Allow a Small Trickle of Water Let a small trickle of water run from faucets. The cost of a small amount of water is far less than the expense of repairing broken pipes.
If Your Pipes do Freeze:
Shut Off Water If your pipes freeze, turn off the water supply immediately.
Thaw Frozen Pipes Carefully Use warm air from a hair dryer or space heater to thaw frozen pipes, but never leave them unattended.
Check for Cracks or Leaks Once the pipes thaw, slowly turn the water back on, and check for any cracks or leaks that may have developed from the freezing.
